Kai Greene ready for a comeback?

If the AMI (American Media, Inc.), the company that’s behind Mr. Olympia, doesn’t revoke its decision, Shawn Rhoden won’t compete in Las Vegas this year or within the next years. The aftermath of Shawn’s implication in a case of rape, unexpectedly brings some of his biggest rivals back into the game. Amongst others, speculations around an earlier comeback of Phil Heath have been circulating recently. But the sevenfold Mr. Olympia is not the only athlete who might capitalize on Rhoden’s erasure from the equation…

In the meantime, almost five years have passed since Kai Greene was last seen onstage at Mr. Olympia. The US-American finished second back then, just like 2013 and 2012. Despite never-ending rumors about an alleged comeback in Vegas, the IFBB pro from New York decided against a return to the most important bodybuilding event in the world. It wouldn’t be a matter of money, but much more an unbridgeable gap between the different opinions of Kai and the organizers of Mr. O. But maybe this hurdles can be overcome now – at least, this would be imaginable in light of the changed premises of the situation.

Due to the accusation of rape, Shawn won’t be able to defend his title come September. It’s also questionable if Phil Heath will really have a go at it this year since another appearance with a „bubble gut“ on the biggest bodybuilding stage would most likely be deadly for his career. The judges surely wouldn’t be lenient towards Heath this time around – and maybe never again.

Arrest warrant issuedReigning champion Shawn Rhoden accused of rape!

It seemed as if Shawn Rhoden’s career really took off last year after he won the most important bodybuilding competition and was crowned Mr. Olympia. Nobody had expected the Jamaican-American to prevail against the back then actual title holder and sevenfold winner Phil Heath. But now Rhoden is confronted with serious problems against whose backdrop […]

In his Instagram story, Aaron Singerman stirred the pot again regarding a comeback of Greene at Mr. Olympia. During a lunch with Brian Shaw and Eduardo, one of his employees, the CEO of RedCon1 clarified that everyone at the lunch table would want to see the multiple Arnold Classic champion in Las Vegas. Moreover, the 400.000 Dollars awarded for the win would be easy money with respect to the current circumstances, as Singerman claimed.

It didn’t take long until Kai Greene personally chimed into the discussion and hinted that “stranger things” could happen – an ambiguous reference that fans of the same-named Netflix show should have noticed. After all, “The Predator” played Funshine in said production. The IFBB pro added that one could see pretty soon what would happen. Possibly, this is an indication of a master plan for a return which might be operated behind closed doors.

Jay Cutler, fourfold Mr. Olympia winner and therefore one of the biggest athletes in bodybuilding history, seems to believe that, given the current situation with Rhoden, Kai Greene would win the competition in 2019, even though he probably wouldn’t make himself a lot of friends with this comment.

Whether Kai Greene is really working on a comeback, still seems as questionable as it had been the last years. After all, it’s been three years since he last stood on stage, and he had to work hard for the triumph at the Arnold Classic in Ohio where he just won against Cedric McMillan due to his posing performance. We also shouldn’t forget that the athlete from New York is not qualified for Mr. Olympia. Thus, Kai would have to rely on the good will of the organizers who had offered him a special invitation repeatedly over the course of the last years.
