It was the predominant topic as such during the last one and a half weeks: Shawn Rhoden, reigning Mr. Olympia, allegedly raped and sexually abused a woman in October 2018. Whatever actually happened in the hotel room of the 44-year-old, who was on a visit in Utah from California for a guest appearance, has been the exclusive knowledge of the accuser and the accused so far. In the meantime, it has become clear though that both parties hold a completely different view on the events. As a result, it’s the classic case of two contradictory testimonials. The irreconcilable opposition of both opinions is underpinned by a statement that has been officially submitted by Shawn Rhoden’s lawyers.
Generation Iron was the first platform to announce an upcoming statement by Shawn Rhoden end of last week. The statement concerning the allegations of rape would be published on July 23, 2019, as the US-American portal claimed – and this claim proved to be true. At least by and large, since the born Jamaican didn’t put anything on record by himself but let his attorneys do this job which probably was a smart move.
The pretty concise statement, which has also been published on the online blog of his lawyer, says that Shawn Rhoden voluntarily appeared with his legal counsel on Tuesday in Salt Lake City (Utah) to present at authorities for the first time since October 2018. Prior to this, there would have been negotiations between Rhoden’s defense team and the prosecution which led to a reduction of the bail from 750.000 to 250.000 US Dollars and to a vacation of the arrest warrant. The 44-year-old would plead not guilty.
It still stands to question if Rhoden is really going to make a statement about the accusations of rape tomorrow or within the next few days. On Thursday last week, Generation Iron, with reference to a source close to them, reported that the 44-year-old would explain his perspective on the case on July 23, 2019. […]
The defense team of the current Mr. Olympia consists of two lawyers. Apart from L. Monte Sleight from Salt Lake City, Rick Collins is supposed to make Shawn Rhoden go out of this case unpunished. With the lawyer from New York, Rhoden would be in very good hands, as Dave Palumbo, who claims to know Collins and who was the first to report about this breaking news, maintains. According to the founder of RxMuscle, there would be no better legal option for this case.
At the end of the statement, Shawn Rhoden lets the public know that he would deeply appreciate his fans and supporters, especially those who would be standing by him during these difficult times. The US-American bodybuilder would deny the accusations emphatically, but he wouldn’t want to say anything in the media personally. Nevertheless, he would look forward to being acquitted of all wrongful charges in court.
This is the whole content of the short but poignant statement of Shawn Rhoden and his defense team. The successful bodybuilder, who has been excluded from this year’s and all future Mr. Olympia events by AMI (American Media, Inc.), denies all accusations of rape and therefore pleads not guilty. At the beginning of the week, rumors occurred that the 44-year-old would have even passed two lie detector tests in October 2018 to prove his innocence.
